Safely: Accidental Damage Insurance
Learn more about Safely, Gather's accidental damage insurance partner and how coverage helps protect your vacation rental.
What Is Safely?
Safely provides short-term rental insurance designed specifically for vacation rental stays. Coverage helps protect your property against accidental guest-related damage, damage to contents, and bodily injury during covered reservations.
Safely coverage operates independently of your homeowners insurance, helping protect your property without impacting your homeowners insurance premiums due to Safely claim activity.
Safely also provides Gather and your Property Manager with a streamlined way to address qualifying damage when it occurs, often without requiring direct involvement from the guest.
Why Does Gather Use Safely?
Accidental damage is an inherent risk of operating a vacation rental. Safely provides an additional layer of protection designed specifically for short-term rental stays.
The program helps:
- Protect against qualifying property and contents damage
- Provide bodily injury coverage during covered reservations
- Address qualifying damage through a dedicated claims process
- Reduce reliance on traditional security deposits
- Resolve many damage claims behind the scenes while preserving the guest experience
Together, these protections provide added peace of mind while your property is welcoming paying guests.
How Is My Safely Policy Determined?
Safely coverage is assigned during the property onboarding process based primarily on your property's Average Daily Rate (ADR), base rate, and applicable Gather Service Fee.
Coverage levels vary by property. Your Property Manager can confirm the Safely policy and coverage limits assigned to your home.
Who Covers the Cost of Safely?
The cost of Safely is supported through Gather's Service Fee, which is charged to guests once per reservation.
The Service Fee helps support Safely coverage as well as Gather's booking and reservation services, including acquiring, securing, and processing reservations through our distribution channels and property management systems.
Service Fees vary based on the property and length of stay.
What Happens If Accidental Damage Occurs?
If qualifying damage is discovered following a covered reservation, your Property Manager can initiate the Safely claims process.
Safely reviews the claim and supporting documentation to determine coverage according to the property's applicable policy. Many claims can be addressed behind the scenes without requiring the owner to navigate the claims process directly.
Your Property Manager will coordinate with you as needed throughout the process and can provide updates regarding the status or outcome of a claim.
